Free Write 4- 1/29/13

Last night I was watching TV with one of my roommates, and I noticed every show we watched had something to do with reality TV. So, I asked myself, why is reality TV so fastinating? Shows such as "The Biggest Loser", " Teen Mom", "Catfish", "The BAchlor", and many others have captivated TV watchers for years. Why is that you ask? It's simply because people are noisy and like to watch other peoples lives. We are so bored with our own lives, we have devoted 3 or 4 hours a night to watching other people find love, or lose weight, or cause drama where none is needed. Don't get me wrong, some of these shows are entertaining to watch, becasue I will be the first to admit, I like watching other "real" people on TV.
Shows such as Jersey Shore, make me feel completly happy with the life I have. Watching the characters be train recks, makes me feel better about myself becasue I know i dont have to go parading around Jersey Shore, drunk as hell in order to make friends or have a good time. However, not all reality TV shows are about people getting hammered or causing drama. Shows such as The BIggest Loser or the Bachlor are great shows to watch if you want to watch someone find happiness and enlightemment in their llives. They're more of the good feeling shows that people watch in order to watch someone reach a hoal or dream they have been desiring.
As i said, some reality TV is pointless and drama filled, while others are enjoyable to watch someones happiness. But, Americans are so bored with their lives they need to watch someone elses and that needs to change.
